About the Author
Sailor, diver, shark hunter, editor, and author, Robert Burgess
began his love affair with small boats as a six-year-old, when he and his father fashioned
a rig for a kayak from a wooden clothespole and a bit of stiff canvas. He's been at
it ever since.
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Burgess now makes his home in
the year-round warmth of Chattohoochee, Florida, where he mixes his writing career with
regular doses of diving, exploring, and sailing.
His other books include Secret Languages of the Sea and Man: 12,000
Years Under the Sea.
