At the end of July 1998, we purchased our first sailboat . . . a
1999 Catalina 250 we named "Lorelei" (hull no. 384). We were delighted
when we learned that OUR boat had left the production line at the end of August, and even
more delighted when the boat finally arrived just in time for the long, 1998 Labor Day
weekend.
To the left, you'll find information that I put
together regarding my sailboat. And, below are a number of links to other
C250-related sites (in most cases). If you are thinking about purchasing a C250,
please take the time to browse these links.

Practical Boat Buying Guide
I paid $10 to Practical Sailor for reprints of their February 15, 1996
review of the Catalina 250 water-ballast and for basically
the same review, repackaged, in their Practical Boat
Buying Guide (date unknown).
Boat Review: Cruising World (Feb. '96)
Generally, not a very flattering review. Realize the review is limited in
scope and dealt with the earliest water-ballast model of the C250. No comparison to
other water-ballasted boats of similar size.

John Day's "Ellie" -- Rig, Launch & Commission
John Day lives in Connecticut and purchased his new
C250 (#200) in October 1998. He tells a tale of the woe
regarding his purchase of this boat which the dealer has
had on the lot for some time. Take John's story as a
warning. Some dealers are good, some are not. And, some
make innocent mistakes that are not corrected soon enough.
