The horse lattitudes are those lattitudes just north and south the equator.The warm air at the equator rises.When it cools ti falls back just north or south the equator.The little air current. Hence the words true sailing is dead.When the Spaniards came to the New World in their sailing vessels they would throw over board horses to lighten the load raise the ships in the water to catch any upper drafts.
